A screenshot, screen capture, or screen dump, is an image of whatever is on your computer screen.
Press the Print Screen (PrtScn) key to copy the entire screen to the clipboard.
If you press Alt + Print Screen, the active window is copied.
In Vista, you can use the Snipping Tool.
You can copy the entire screen, a rectangular area, or a free form area.

To create a PNG file (PDF file when using OS 10.3 or earlier) on the Desktop, do the following.
• Press Cmd + Shift + 3 to copy the entire screen.
• Press Cmd + Shift + 4 to change the cursor to a crosshairs.
Click, hold, and drag to select the area to be copied.
• Press Cmd + Shift + 4 + Space Bar to change the cursor to a camera.
Click the active window to copy the window.
To create a PNG file (PDF file when using OS 10.3 or earlier) on the clipboard, add Ctrl to the above keyboard shortcuts.
• Press Cmd + Ctrl + Shift + 3 to copy the entire screen.
• Press Cmd + Ctrl + Shift + 4 to change the cursor to a crosshairs.

Click the active window to copy the window.
Go to Applications > Utilities to open Grab.
Screenshots are saved using the .tiff file format.
Grab has four modes.
Select Screen, and click on the screen, to copy the entire screen.
Select Selection, and click, hold, and drag the area to be selected.
Select Window, click on the window to be copied, and then click Choose Window.
Select Timed Grab, and press Start Timer.
You'll have have ten seconds to get the screen ready for its picture, such opening a menu.
Grab will copy the cursor as well as menus.
Go to Grab > Preferences, and select a cursor.
You can convert a long webpage to a PDF file.
Do the following.
1) Go to File > Print.
2) Click preview at the bottom of the Print window.
The webpage will open in a Preview window.
3) In the Preview window, go to File > Save As PDF.
To open the screenshot in Photoshop Elements, go to File > New > Image from Clipboard.
Save the screenshot to the clipboard.
To open the screenshot in Photoshop Elements, go to File > New > Image from Clipboard.
