Filter Sharpening

Before you apply a sharpening method to a photograph, you make a composite layer.

When using the High Pass sharpening method, the Overlay blending mode is used on the composite layer.

After sharpening, if you paint with 50% gray on the composite layer, the sharpening is erased.

Be sure to check off as you go along.

Steps

1) Sharpen the composite layer using the High-pass Filter Sharpening.

2) Click the composite layer.

3) Change the foreground color to 50% gray.

Double click on the foreground color icon.

The Color Picker window will open.

Enter 808080 in the # box.

4) Select the Brush tool.

Use a feathered brush.

If you haven't already done so, go to Feathered Brush.

5) Paint where you don't want the sharpening.
