The photograph on the left is unsharpened.

JPEG sharpening was turned off, so the camera didn't sharpen the photograph.

The one to the right was sharpened.

Over Sharpening

You can over sharpen photographs.

The photograph on the left is the sharpened version from above.

The version on the right has too much sharpening.
