Color Picking >

2 - Color Picker

The foreground or background colors are located in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.

When you double click the foreground color or background color, the Color Picker window appears.

There are two ways to select a color with the Color Picker.

Scroll down, or click here.

Method #1

Let's click the foreground color, which is black, by default.

The Color Picker window appears.

q

First, look under the small black box.

The H (hue) radio button is selected, by default.

This button should be selected when you're selecting a color.

Now, let's say we want to change the foreground color from black to a blue color.

1) Click, hold, and drag one of the white triangles next to the the "rainbow" column.

Drag the slider to the blue area.

You can also click anywhere on the column to choose a color.

2) Then, click a blue in the color field, the big square of color.

q

Method #2

Note how the four colors below are defined by three numbers, for red, blue, and green.

Dark Red   Goldenrod   Dark Olive Green   Light Sky Blue
Red 139   218   85   135
Green 0   165   107   206
Blue 0   32   47   250

Enter the values in the Color Picker window in the R, G, and B boxes.

Below, dark red was created by entering 139, 0, and 0.

q

Go to Color Samples for more color values to enter into the Color Picker boxes.
